We were proud of Smartie at the DPCA Futurity in Oct 2009, where she placed 1st in her class (6-9 mo. AOAC bitches) under esteemed breeder/handler Marge Brooks. Then she was 4th in her class at the DPCA National Specialty under Nancy Christensen. She was noticed by many well-known handlers and breeders, as well as her littermates that attended. She was handled there by Jr Handler Danica Eiswerth who also competed in Juniors with her dog Rita and won the best junior in the Specialty.

Texarkana AR, Smartie was WB for her 3rd Major in the US!! This finishes her American Championship in style! She is now Am/Can CH Sunburg’s Smart Surprise. I am one very proud owner, and thank you to Joanne and Jana for her US showing, and for letting me have this fabulous girl!
We moved Smartie to Specials at the Cambridge MN shows, since I was driving to pick her up anyway. Jana cannot show her as she already has a Specials Bitch. Shannon Houg showed her at the Friday & Sat Specialties, and Smartie was Best of Opposite Friday under Coleman Nemerov for 5 Gr Ch points (Major) and Select Bitch Saturday under Bonnie Linnell Clarke for 4 Gr Ch Points (2nd Major). We were very proud of our little girl!

Dec 31, 2011. With limited Canadian showing, Smartie finished the year as Canada’s #10 Doberman, #3 Doberman Bitch handled by Lori Gauvin. She has also been awarded BOS to Dog of the Year for 2011 by DPCC.
Mar 27, 2012 Smartie was bred by frozen semen implant to Thorn (BPIS/BISS Can Ch Royolyn Ice Sculpture) producing only 1 black male, our “G’Reth” who is now Can Ch Denmel’s Icefire finishing at 9 mos. with some nice Puppy Group and Breed wins over Specials. . He is a very special boy and stayed here at Denmel. We are currently showing in the USA when we can get to a show there, and G’Reth now has 5 Am points Breeder handled to date. See G’Reth’s page for more info on him.
Aug 4, 2012, With her c-section and G’Reth only 10 weeks prior, we entered Smartie in the DPCC Nationals under George Marquis. Despite being in not prime condition after her baby belly and c-section etc, she was awarded the 2nd of 3 AOM’s. We were very proud of her, and the Judge commented that he rewarded her structure and substance, and as well he loves nice heads. He also gave BISS to Spartan (BISS BPIS Can/Am Ch Supernova Never Surrender, CGN) bred/owned by Catherine and Danica Eiswerth and handled to the win by Danica. I liked this boy before, but now that he is 2 1/2 he looks stunning! Smartie was thus bred to him next.
Smartie and Spartan produced 3 red girls. Again, not many puppies, but they are all very nice. So far Sassy has finished her Canadian Ch.with several Puppy Group wins along the way and is now Can Ch Supernova Smart Alec Denmel. Posh (Supernova Smart Style Denmel) in only a few shows also has won a Puppy Group, and garnered most of her points and will be brought back out soon to finish in Canada. Phoenix (Supernova Smart Fire Denmel) has 6 points in Canada and will be shown again soon also.
We will be doing one more attempt at breeding Smartie, but she is already proving herself in the whelping box, not in the quantity but certainly in the quality of puppies she has produced so far.
Jan 2014, our local training group (Calgary Doberman Training Group) hosted a CGN (Canine Good Neighbour) Trial. I entered Smartie, and she passed! So now we can add CGN to the end of her name. Yay!
